Sebastian Junger to Keynote Fifth Annual Warrior Community Integration Symposium

Award-winning journalist will address veteran-serving professionals and discuss the challenges veterans face in re-acclimating to society

America’s Warrior Partnership today announced that award-winning journalist Sebastian Junger will provide the keynote address at the Fifth Annual Warrior Community Integration Symposium, a gathering of hundreds of military veteran-serving professionals to share best practices and discuss key issues affecting veterans, their families, and caregivers within local communities.

Junger will explore how post-traumatic stress among veterans may in part be caused by a loss of the close bonds formed with fellow service members after transitioning to civilian life. Veteran-serving professionals may be able to overcome this challenge by empowering veterans to regain a sense of closeness with their local community. This topic is a focus of Junger’s work covering the U.S. military, which includes directing acclaimed documentaries “Restrepo” and “Korengal” and writing “Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging,” a book investigating the experiences of veterans after they leave the service.

Sebastian is one of the most respected voices in the nation on the impact of war on our soldiers, and we undoubtedly will learn much from his experiences and insights.
