Sebastian Junger to Keynote Fifth Annual Warrior Community Integration Symposium
Award-winning journalist will address veteran-serving professionals and discuss the challenges veterans face in re-acclimating to society
ATLANTA, July 23, 2018 (Newswire.com) - America’s Warrior Partnership today announced that award-winning journalist Sebastian Junger will provide the keynote address at the Fifth Annual Warrior Community Integration Symposium, a gathering of hundreds of military veteran-serving professionals to share best practices and discuss key issues affecting veterans, their families, and caregivers within local communities.
Junger will explore how post-traumatic stress among veterans may in part be caused by a loss of the close bonds formed with fellow service members after transitioning to civilian life. Veteran-serving professionals may be able to overcome this challenge by empowering veterans to regain a sense of closeness with their local community. This topic is a focus of Junger’s work covering the U.S. military, which includes directing acclaimed documentaries “Restrepo” and “Korengal” and writing “Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging,” a book investigating the experiences of veterans after they leave the service.
